For betting purposes, unless otherwise stipulated, games are official after 55 minutes of play.
Teams must play for there to be action, all bets included, all leagues included.
Pointspread & Over/Under bets:
On a pointspread bet, the team bet on must win by the pointspread figure. At the end of the game, including overtime, one team or other may or may not have "covered" the spread. On an over/under bet, the total points scored in the game by both teams, including overtime, must be over or under the total selected.
Example:
The posted line is San Diego -5 at Jacksonville Jaguars +5 and the over/under total is 42.
The odds are USD (US Dollar) 1.10 to win USD 1.00 (-110) unless otherwise indicated.
For the player who bets on San Diego at -5, they must win by more than 5 points for this to be a winning bet. For the player who bets on Jacksonville at +5, they must either win the game, or lose by less than 5 points for this to be a winning bet. If the outcome falls on the number, either way, the bet is declared a "push" or a draw, and the original stake is refunded to the player.
For the player who bets on the total points of this contest by both teams to be "Over" 42, the combined final score of both teams must exceed 42. For the player who bets on the total points of this contest by both teams to be "Under" 42, the combined final score of both teams must be less than 42. If the outcome falls on the number, the bet is a "push" or draw and the original stake is refunded.
Pointspread and Totals (Over/Under) odds will be offered on all NFL, CFL, AFL and NCAA matches.
Halftime Football Bets:
VIP Sportsbook offers Half-time betting. "Half" betting is simply a bet on the score of the first, or second half of a game. The line offered will be a pointspread, a moneyline, or a combination of the two, but the bet applies only to the score of the half-time period specified.
First half lines will be offered on all NFL and NCAA contests, and will be available from mid-week - often earlier - allowing the player plenty of time to bet on these events.
Second half lines will be offered on all NFL and the majority of NCAA contests, and will be offered within
five minutes of the end of the first half of the game.
Bets may be parlayed to other contests, but a first half bet may not be parlayed to any other bet from the same game.
No teaser plays or buying of points is allowed on Halftime bets.
Overtime periods are included as part of the second half.
The full half (first or second) must be played for action.
Quarter bets:
VIP Sportsbook offer betting on individual quarters of selected matches. betting on quarters is simply a bet only on the score of the first, second, third or fourth quarter of match. These lines will be offered on special 'marquee' events, such as Monday Night Football, Sunday night games, and playoff and Super Bowl games. The line offered will be a pointspread, a moneyline, or a combination of the two, but the bet applies only to the score of the specified quarter.
Quarter lines will be released on the day of the game, often before, but with plenty of time to bet on these events.
All quarter lines will come down at kickoff.
Bets may be parlayed to other games but a quarter bet may not be parlayed with any other bet from the same game.
Overtime scoring is not included in Fourth Quarter bets.
Moneyline bets:
VIP Sportsbook offers moneyline betting on football. Moneyline betting is simply betting on the game based on a given price rather than a pointspread. The bet is effectively just a "straight bet" where the team bet on has to win the game.
Example:
A player could choose one of two bets on the following matchup: San Diego -200 at Jacksonville Jaguars +180. If San Diego wins then the player laid USD 200.00 to win USD 100.00. If Jacksonville Jaguars wins then the player who bet USD 100.00 wins USD 180.00.
Moneylines will be offered on most NFL, CFL, AFL and NCAA contests, and will be posted on the morning of the game - usually much earlier.
Moneyline bets may be parlayed to other contests, but a moneyline bet may not be parlayed to any other bet from the same game.
Point Buying:
VIP Sportsbook offers Point Buying. This is where the bettor can improve the pointspread of a football matchup by "buying points" for the team he/she wants to bet, either the side or total. Players can buy points in 1/2 point increments up to 3 points, depending on the game. Each 1/2 point costs the bettor an additional 10% commission (vigorish).
Example:
The New England Patriots are playing the Green Bay Packers, the line on the game is the Patriots -6, with a total of 43. If a USD 100 bet is placed on the Patriots -6 with a 1/2 point buy, the player has a bet on the Patriots -5 1/2 points, and must put up USD 120 to win USD 100, instead of the usual USD 110 to win USD 100. If the player, requests a full 1 point buy to move the spread down to -5, they would have to put up USD 130 to win USD 100. Buying the pointspread down 1 1/2 points to 4 1/2 would cost USD 140 to win USD 100.
The player may of course buy points on the Packers side, and get the line at plus 6 1/2, 7 or 7 1/2 points, all the way up to plus 9 points with the same increase in vigorish.
Bettors may also buy points for football totals. In this particular game, bettors could buy an "over" bet with a maximum line move down to 40, or an "under" bet with a maximum line move up to 46.
Point Buying to a maximum of 3 points will be offered on all NFL and NCAA contests.
Bettors will be charged an additional 10% vigorish to buy on, and/or off of the number 3 in the NFL.
Point Buying will not be offered on halftime, quarter or moneyline bets.
Proposition bets:
VIP Sportsbook offers a wide variety of proposition bets too, involving scoring times, scoring plays,
fumbles, field goals, individual players bets and many more. We offer proposition bets across a wide range of
sports. Due to the sheer volume of these types of bets, and new markets always being created, proposition bet
